The National Maths & Science Council
The National Maths and Science Council is a body formed by the students, run by the students, for the students
and supported by the Government of SA (dbe). The NMSC, it's logo and ideas are a product of this organization.
Why the Student Council?
This council is formed to give more responsibility to handle the problems and challenges of developing a class that excels on Maths and Science on the student’
shoulders. Students know what students go thru and all they need is to be given responsibility and feel like their in charge of their future. This council
seeks to develop leaders that can lead a group of students who is their fellow students, display noble character. This project will be supervised by the
teachers especially on behaviour and etc. but run by students themselves.
How it works
1. Every secondary school will have a National Maths and Science Council Leader (NMSCL).
2. He/she will choose their own team at that particular school to work with. Team members must be known to us.
3. The leader will be mandated with the responsibility of uplifting the standards of Maths and Science in that particular school together with teachers.
4. The leaders will report to us directly.
The I LOVE MATHS & SCIENCE Week
This is a week where all schools across the country and all people celebrate the excellence of Maths and Science. We also demonstrate the fun and value of excelling in these subjects.
The Maths & Science Tour
The Maths and Science Tour is a road academic show where we visit different schools(preferably
all government secondary schools) across country.
How it works
1. We travel in branded mini buses branded our logo.
2. We travel in branded mini buses branded our logo.
3. We motivate them on learning Maths and Science.
4. Encourage the spirit of excellence and hard working.
5. Reinforce the NMSC leadership and structure.
6. Give out pamphlets and other material.
7. The Importance of developing vision in life and career.
8. Make a small Maths and Science problem solving competition and give out prices.
